Sterling Vineyards Renovations

To continue its reputation as a first-class destination, 30-year-old Sterling Vineyards turned to Rudolph and Sletten for it beautification project.

Working closely with architects at Backen Gillam, Rudolph and Sletten installed finishes that complemented the Mediterranean look of the original buildings, using rustic plank doors, reclaimed wood flooring, cast stone, stamped concrete and oil-rubbed hardware.

Beneath finishes, the company seismically strengthened the winery’s 1970 tilt-up concrete panels. The team completely gutted the 10,000 square-foot wood-framed tasting rooms reinforced and upgraded them with new utility systems. To better accommodate the growing crowds at the winery, the front entrance was replace and the walking tour within the winery was rebuilt to improve accessibility.

Careful scheduling with Sterling allowed the work to continue straight through two grape-crushing seasons, the most sensitive time of the year for a winery, without interrupting either the wine making efforts or the flow of wine lovers.
